How to Clean, Care and Maintain your Customized Lodge Dutch Oven
- Wash using a mild soap with brush or sponge, avoid long soaking and rinse well.
- Dry your cast iron thoroughly after washing, then heat it on the stove or in the oven for a few minutes to make sure all moisture evaporates.
- Rub a thin layer of cooking oil over the surface while it is still warm. Apply with a cloth or paper towel, then wipe away. Use only a light sheen, not a greasy layer.
- Store dry, with a paper towel between stacked pans.
- Re-season if surface dulls or food starts to stick. This is accomplished by oiling all surfaces (even the bottom and handles!) then place it upside down in your oven at 500 degrees F for 1 hour.
- If you see rust, scrub it off, dry well, then re-season.
