If you’ve ever tried to spray paint a design with multiple colors, you know it’s not something that can be done with just one stencil. That’s where multi-layer stencils come in.
With a custom stencil set, each color in your design gets its own layer. For example, a logo with black and red would be split into two stencils—one for each color. When used in the right order, the layers come together to create a clean and accurate result. We recommended a maximum of 3-4 colors for ease of application

Troubleshooting Tips for Multi-Colored Stencil Designs
1. Misaligned Layers
Colors don’t line up correctly between layers.
- Use registration marks to align layers precisely.
- Tape stencil securely before spraying.
- Start with light tack adhesive spray for better placement.
2. Paint Bleed or Fuzzy Edges
Paint leaks under the stencil or edges look soft.
- Use painter’s tape to seal stencil edges.
- Apply paint in light coats rather than heavy sprays.
- Hold can at the correct distance.
3. Overlapping or Unwanted Color Mixing
One color bleeds into another or overlaps too much.
- Allow each layer to dry completely before applying the next color.
- Mask off surrounding areas when spraying.
- Start with lighter colors first.
